    World No. 1 Novak Djokovic Tested Positive for COVID-19

    June 23, 2020 (New Delhi)  Tennis legend and world number one Novak Djokovic on Tuesday has been tested positive for novel coronavirus, but so far has been asymptomatic.

    Djokovic along with his family was tested on his arrival in Belgrade, Serbia. His wide also tested positive while children’s tests revealed to be negative.

    ‘’The moment we arrived in Belgrade we went to be tested. My result is positive, just as Jelena’s, while the results of our children are negative,” Djokovic said in a statement released on his website.

    Djokovic further said, “I am hoping things will ease with time so we can all resume lives the way they were. I am extremely sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine. I will remain in self-isolation for the next 14 days, and repeat the test in five days.”

    Meanwhile, he has reportedly not shown any symptoms but will now self-isolate for 14 days.

    The development comes after the reigning Wimbledon and Australian Open Champion organized an exhibition matches for the event ‘’ the Adria Tour’’.  

    The tournament witnessed Housefull stands, players not following social distancing norm at the nets, posing group pictures for social media, and attending press conferences together.
